Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change we've been seeking.

- Barack Obama

Project Descriptions

SAAC is striving towards implementing education on the awareness and prevention of sexual assualt and dating violence into every school in Davis. We hope to educate a growing generation that has a better grasp on the idea of consent, and is able to understand what to do when they find themselves in a bystander position.

Education Implementation
PSA Contest

By developing an interactive way for students to research and showcase the effects that sexual assualt and dating violence can have on someone's life.

The PSA must promote a message that ties into our mission statement, but is entirely creative.

Poster Contest

Students will submit a creative and powerful poster highlighting the problem we are facing and how we can fix it as a community and nation.

About Us

Who we are: A grassroots organization consisting of parents, educators, citizens, UCD and City of Davis partners.

In the past few months, effort has focused on sexual assault on college campuses, but until recently, little has trickled down to the high school level.  The University of California mandates sexual assault training for incoming freshman, yet in Davis our schools have traditionally offered nothing after a brief unit in the 9th grade.  Just when teens are most likely to encounter sexual assault, we adults are saying little about it.

What we are doing:  Making vital changes by bringing together the forces necessary to push bystander training, and anti-sexual assault, relationship-violence, and consent law education into schools.  Designed by county-funded Empower Yolo, these programs are now being implemented in our middle and our high schools as well.
